Steve Antosca Monday, April 18 at 8pm Frances and Armand Hammer Auditorium Washington, DC The Corcoran Gallery of Art presents their resident new music ensemble the Contemporary Music Forum in their annual Plugged~In concert. Forum composer Steve Antosca of George Mason University and percussionist Tom Teasley will perform 'something else', a collaborative work with Antosca on powerBook and Teasley performing on a wide range of world percussion instruments, including a selection of tambourines from many indigenous cultures, the pandiero, bodhran, djembe and a few modern percussion instruments such as the cajone, the handsonic and the hang drum. Borrowing from the improvisational nature of the jazz tradition and coupling ancient instruments with technology, Steve and Tom integrate old and new sounds through real-time computer processing to create unique sonic textures.
